Television advertising directed toward young children (aged two to five) should not be allowed.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Television advertising directed toward young children (aged two to five) should not be allowed.

that the TOEFL iBT sample question for Writing test. This is the independent question, so no need to listen or read a passage to answer that.

In order to practice this kind of test, so I will write the answer on this post.

Obviously, children are not having a purchasing power, but the fact is advertising direct to children is occurred everywhere. This is good strategy I think, even if children don't have money on their pocket, but they can pursuing their parents to buying products for themselves.

The thing is, how parents can reject / accept the request for their children. Of course children thought still not clear as adult thought when deciding something. Maybe, children thought that knife is good for their role playing, but actually is not. That is how parents need to control their children wants and thought.

Back to the advertising case. In my point a view, advertiser can do targeting to anyone, as long as their don't break the law and policy. It is up to them. But our children is up to us, up to the parents.

Doesn't matter how massive advertiser targeting children at any age, as long as parents can buffer what their children thought, as long as parents can persuade wrong thoughts of their children, advertising is not a problem.

So, for me, I totally agree with television advertising that direct to Children (aged two to five). It is fine. The thing we have to concern are the parents.
